Welcome, welcome, welcome everybody to Top Line Live at Five. My name is Brian Devine here with Top Line. And today, we’re going to be talking about custom audiences on Facebook, and why they are so important to you and your practice? Here’s the reason that I wanted to talk about it today, is because after talking with my Facebook Rep, I realized that there’s even more stuff that can be done with Facebook custom audiences even more than what we have been doing already. So that’s always exciting for us to be able to talk with the Facebook, and get that kind of information and have them update us on what’s new, and what’s changing and what we can start looking forward to. So I thought I’d pass some of that onto you.
And in case you do not know, a Facebook custom audience is a way for you to target very specific people that are ideal for your practice. The easiest way to do that is to look at your location, to look at the type of people that are already in your practice, and you can do all kinds of amazing things with a custom audience. I’m just looking at my ads manager, just kind of an older account with all kinds of inactive stuff going on. But I want you to see when you’ve logged into your business.facebook.com account, all you have to do is come over here where it says ads manager. Click on that little hamburger and your options here might be different than mine, but just in case you don’t see an audience like I don’t, I’ll have to do is hover over all tools and then come over here to audiences, very straightforward. They do not try to hide it too much, but that’s where you’re going to go and you’re going to find it, so it’s going to load up this. This is actually a very new interface where they’re using all this new stuff.
But here’s the thing, let’s make life easy. You’re going to come down here to create audiences. You’re going to create either a custom or a lookalike. Now, one of the things that I think is probably the most interesting right now is what you can do with lookalike audiences. Let’s say you are attracting all the people that are coming through your website using your Facebook pixel and in case you’re wondering, you just go here to pixels or you go to all tools, whereas your pixel pixels right here and you put that on your website and it will end on track.
Everyone that comes through your website through Facebook, that’s how you do retargeting. All kinds of cool stuff along those lines. Here’s the thing though, if you’ve been tracking that you can click on create lookalike audience and you can come down here and I want the pixel for my website or anything that you’ve created previously, but for these purposes, this is just the Facebook pixel. These are people that have been on my Facebook page, and that’s what was pretty new. I was a little surprised that they’re willing to do that. I’m going to see if I had any more on there, but I don’t. So if you have your pixel pay, if you have your page, just your Facebook page, not your website, but your page, you can actually create a custom audience or a lookalike audience based on that.
So you already know the people that have been on your page, that have liked your page that is interacting with your page, those are probably your patients. Well, why not make a lookalike audience based on just that. Now let’s say, you don’t have this or it’s not what you exactly want and you’ve got it based on your website. So like I’m just saying, my blog and so what you do is you would simply choose that. Now, in this case, it’s a little bit not as intuitive as I would like because essentially, it’s trying to do this really crazy thing where it creates all of this values and stuff like that. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to come back over here, click creates a custom audience, and we’re going to do, let’s see, customer file. That’s what’s amazing. So you can just upload a list of a couple of thousands of your patients, load up as long as you’ve got an email, going to work the best and load up just the emails and it will create a custom audience for you. And then from there, you can create a lookalike audience. So it’s just absolutely amazing.
So we’re going to do website traffic and we’re going to track my main pixel. All website visitors and you can say 30 days, 90 days, 180 days, whatever you think is going to be the most valuable for you, you’re going to name it. And then once you have named that, you could create the audience and then now you have this audience is a very targeted group of people that it’s going to create for you and you can start targeting just those people and see how that goes. And you can play around with the different types of audiences that are going to do better for different types of offers that you run. And in case you’re looking for, what types of offers do a quick search, I’ve talked quite a bit. I think about the HSO, the holy smokes offers that you should be running, but that’s how you get great results with these types of campaigns.
So I know I did that pretty quickly. I don’t want to bore anybody to death, but I want you to understand the concept here, so whomever you’re working with, whether it’s a staff member, if you’ve got a marketing manager, if you’ve got a company that you’re working with, make sure that you’re talking about custom audiences and lookalike audiences when it comes to running your Facebook ads because then it is amazing what you can do with this type of targeting these days.
