Welcome, welcome, welcome everybody to Top Line Live at Five. My name is Brian Devine here with Top Line. And today, we’re going to be talking about something that is near and dear to my heart, and that is how you stand out from the crowd when it comes to your marketing. And when I say marketing, I mean your online marketing and your presence online, but also your internal marketing. Everything that you do within your practice to have great success. But the reason that we are talking about this today is that I have been in hundreds, hundreds of offices, at least 350 different practices. Seeing what works, what doesn’t, what makes one successful versus another, and what really all of it comes down to is your authenticity being you and that that doesn’t just mean you as the doctor because if maybe you’re watching this video and you are the office manager or the practice manager or the marketing manager or even a dental hygienist, the more authentic you are to who you are, to what matters to you too, how important certain things are to you. The easier it becomes to attract new patients.


Now, when I say attract new patients, I don’t mean that you just kind of sit back and say, I’m going to think really positive thoughts and new patients are going to flood my practice. That’s not how it works. I wish it was, but it’s not. What I’m talking about here is when you put different campaigns in place and you have special offers to get people to call, to walk in whatever it is that we’re trying to get them to do. When you are authentic about the entire process from the doctor and who you are and what matters to you and what’s important to the person who answers the phone, having a match to the doctor, so if you have a doctor that is just Super Fun, gregarious and loud, and then you have someone who answers the phone who is cold and tired all the time and not friendly, well, that’s not going to create that synergy, the authentic synergy between who the doctor is and what the practice represents.

So you have to think about that whole process, and I know I’ve said it before, but the most important person in your practice as the person who answers the phone, that new patient phone call is so important in getting them to actually take that next step, to schedule an appointment and then come in to the practice and it also really matters when you have your lifetime patients. Those people that have been with you forever. That person who answered the phone, if they are not in a good mood, don’t let them answer the phone because that all is a part of that authenticity. About creating that experience and what I saw over and over again and hundreds of these offices and it looks like my streaming went down, but we’ll keep going. In the offices, we found that the ones that, that did the best were the ones that were fun and any campaign that we ran that would bring people in worked because everyone was having a good time from the person who answered the phone, was happy and having a good time. The doctor was happy and having a good time.

Now, I’m not suggesting that you pretend to be something you’re not. So if you’re the doctor and you just, you’re just not that person, you’re not going to be able to be fun and loose and make sure that everybody is just having a good time. If that’s not you. Find someone in your practice who is and then engage with it. Okay, you don’t have to have to just be that one person, but that’s what I saw consistently over and over again.

The practices that did the best, the practices that could take a new patient phone call and turn it into a lifetime patient where the fun places to be because when it comes to everything that you do, people aren’t like; I can’t wait to go see.
